1. Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch

This is my #1 recommendation for families in Gilbert. The wooden boardwalks, wetlands, and desert backdrop give you variety in a single session, golden hour here (about an hour before sunset) is unbeatable for soft, warm light. Great for newborn lifestyle sessions and family portraits alike.

2. Gilbert Heritage District

Downtown Gilbert’s Heritage District has brick storefronts, string lights, and a walkable charm that photographs beautifully for seniors and engagement-style family sessions. Weekday mornings mean fewer crowds.

3. Crossroads Park / Discovery Park

Wide-open lawns and playground areas make this ideal for sessions with toddlers and young kids who need room to move, cake smash sessions especially benefit from a relaxed, low-pressure outdoor setting nearby.

4. Freestone Park

Home to a lake and gazebo, Freestone offers a classic “park portrait” feel that a lot of Gilbert families request, especially around the holidays for family cards.

When to Book

Arizona light is harsh midday, so I always recommend early morning or the two hours before sunset for outdoor Gilbert sessions, this holds true whether it’s a newborn, maternity, or full family shoot.
